1. What producers receive
Members who feed surplus electricity into the community receive 10 cents per kWh – significantly more than from most external buyers.
Example: 3,000 kWh × 10 cents = €300 per year.
2. What consumers pay
Members who consume electricity from the community pay 12 cents per kWh – without VAT.
Example: 3,000 kWh × 12 cents = €360 per year.
3. What the 2-cent margin is used for
The small markup between selling and consumption goes directly into running the community:
- Correct billing: EnergyFamily ensures everything is billed transparently and traceably.
- Platform operation: Maintenance of the digital infrastructure where you can view your energy flows and bills anytime.
4. Membership fee: €2 per month
The modest contribution covers all organizational tasks of the association:
- Administration: Day-to-day operations
- Bank fees: Account management and financial transactions
- Public relations: Advertising, events, social media, and this website
5. Non-profit & for the cause
EGOT is a non-profit association. That means: All funds go back to the community. Surpluses are reinvested or used for future sustainable projects – nobody profits privately.
6. Three additional benefits
📉 28% lower grid fees
For electricity you consume from the community, you pay significantly lower grid fees – a legally anchored bonus.
🚫 No VAT for private individuals
Since we are non-profit and operate as a small business, no VAT is charged for private individuals. That saves an additional 20% over the regular electricity price.
🔒 Guaranteed supply security
If the sun doesn't shine or electricity fails elsewhere, everything continues as usual: You'll automatically draw from your regular supplier – uninterrupted.
What you can save
Example for a consuming member with 3,000 kWh annual consumption:
| Electricity costs | 3,000 kWh × 12 ct = €360 |
| Membership fee | €2 × 12 = €24 |
| Total per year | €384 |
Your savings compared to a normal tariff
- At a typical 16 ct/kWh tariff: €120 just on the electricity price
- Plus saved VAT (20%)
- Plus 28% reduction on grid fees
→ Realistically, you save €200 or more per year – depending on your current tariff.
